CNN's Comments Are Why Americans Don't Trust Them
Today's latest wild statements exemplifies the problem with mainstream media
Did you catch what Abby Phillips on CNN said this morning during the funeral procession of former President Jimmy Carter? If you didn’t, I’ll tell you. Phillips was discussing Donald Trump’s reaction to President Carter’s passing and said that Trump’s statements have been “incredibly gracious.” Don’t believe me? Watch this clip for yourself:
The truth is, this is yet another attempt by CNN to distract the American public from Trump’s true comments about President Carter’s passing. Following President Carter’s passing, Trump issued a pre-written statement. But, that statement was not his only comment. In the weeks after President Carter’s passing, Donald Trump began to change his tune and began to lambast the fact that the American flag will be flown at half-staff during his inauguration, essentially blaming Democrats and President Carter in the process.
What Trump fails to remark in this statement is that U.S. protocol requires the American flag to be flown at half-staff for 30-days following the death of any current or former President. President Biden, for his part, quickly rejected any notion that such policy will be changed because Trump was upset.
In any event, that remark made by Trump was not “incredibly gracious” like Phillip remarked this morning. It was quiet the opposite. In fact, it exposed exactly the problems Americans have with legacy media channels like CNN. Normalizing Donald Trump’s conduct is not acceptable. For years, CNN told the American public that Trump was a threat to our democracy. Now, that same channel is attempting to normalize Trump’s remarks. It’s wrong and it’s unacceptable from a news channel.
Legacy media is dying because of events like this one. As an independent reporter, I give my viewers the news, unbiased. I lay out the facts as they are presented, because there is no such thing as “Republican facts” or “Democrat facts.” I don’t add my own opinions or spin to the facts. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for CNN.

When Nixon was inaugurated the flags were at half staff because of the death of president Truman. Where’s the fact checkers?
I couldn't watch the Memorial. Even C-Span was blathering about nothing. I wanted to see Carter laid to rest, not listen to ridiculous commentary. I won't be watching President-elect Convicted Felon's J/20 Propaganda fiasco. I will be remembering President Carter and celebrating Joe and Kamala Appreciation Day.
