Actually I am a retired teacher living mostly in Germany right now because I cannot fly for a while. All of my friends in the US and my family are people who care. I am probably more hopeful because I am here, and surrounded by bright caring people in my political work.
I taught in the US in the school that Progressive educator John Dewey founded. I am a Deweyan teacher. I have a home in the US, where my mom and family are. My husband's family is all here in Germany though, or mostly. He has family in Switzerland too.
In my local Indivisible Abroad group, two other people in the group spend 6 mos in the US, 6 mos here. A lot more people live like that than you think. In the last couple of years I was going to do that, but then I had so much going on here, that I spent more like 4 mo there, 8 months here. I have asthma and the air is cleaner, so I don't have asthma problems here.

A trend graph of Trump family wealth with crucial dates labeled. There is so much evidence of unnecessary cruelty (mostly aimed at immigrants, minority members, women, and reporters), worship of autocratic leaders (not just Putin and Orban) and disdain for world leaders who aren't considered crooks in their own countriesp.
