According to reporting from The Washington Post, we are now learning that Elon Musk was involved in a physical altercation with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The confrontation reportedly took place behind closed doors but set off alarms throughout the West Wing.
Meanwhile, Musk pushed to install Starlink at the White House—brought in under DOGE’s authority, allegedly bypassing serious objections from national security officials. According to The Washington Post, the satellite terminals were installed to address communication “dead zones” on the White House grounds. However, Post sources familiar with the matter contend the actual purpose was to allow DOGE to transmit large volumes of encrypted data, bypassing traditional federal IT channels.
At the same time, Donald Trump is lashing out at Elon Musk both publicly and privately. Behind closed doors, Trump referred to Musk as a “big-time drug addict.” He also warned that Musk would “face serious consequences” if he chose to use his considerable personal fortune to support Democratic candidates in the 2026 midterms—a move Musk has reportedly floated privately to advisers.
Donald Trump is also dismissing Musk’s tweet about his connection to Jeffrey Epstein saying it’s “old news.” He hasn’t officially denied it, however.
The big, beautiful breakup is continuing.
