In an unprecedented escalation of political influence, Elon Musk — now serving as Donald Trump’s Senior Advisor and the head of the powerful new Department of Government Efficiency — is being accused of actively attempting to buy Wisconsin’s April 1st Supreme Court election.

Musk’s political machine has already flooded the state with nearly $20 million through a network of opaque Super PACs, all backing former Attorney General Brad Schimel, a hardline conservative and loyal Trump ally. But critics say Musk’s financial blitz goes far beyond typical campaign spending — and may have crossed into violating campaign finance law.
According to Axios, the PACs tied to Musk are paying Wisconsin residents $100 each to sign a petition denouncing “activist judges” — a dog-whistle targeting members of the nation’s judiciary. The petition, according to organizers, is being used to “build momentum” for court reform — but many note that it amounts to cash-for-political compliance, a deeply troubling precedent.
The scandal reached new heights just now when Musk posted a brazen message on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“On Sunday night, I will give a talk in Wisconsin. Entrance is limited to those who have voted in the Supreme Court election. I will also personally hand over two checks for a million dollars each in appreciation for you taking the time to vote. This is super important.”
Many are calling it what it is: vote-buying. Direct. On the record. Broadcast to millions.
At stake is control of Wisconsin’s Supreme Court, a body that will likely rule on gerrymandering, voter suppression laws, and abortion access in the years ahead. The winner of the Wisconsin Supreme Court election will serve for a 10-year term.
The election is also seen as a litmus test for the broader strategy being deployed by the Trump-Musk alliance to consolidate power through state-level judicial takeovers.
If Musk is successful in Wisconsin, observers fear it will serve as a blueprint for oligarchic control of the judiciary nationwide — leveraging unchecked wealth, exploiting legal gray zones, and intimidating institutions that once functioned independently of executive influence.
Meanwhile, Musk has shown no signs of backing down.
For now, all eyes are on Wisconsin. But the implications stretch far beyond one race — this may be the moment the American public decides whether democracy is still something that can’t be bought.
How is this not election interference!?
