BREAKING: Donald Trump Tells His Inner Circle That Elon Musk Will Leave Soon: Politico Reports
This new report shows that Musk will be leaving the federal government very soon.
Elon Musk’s brief but headline-grabbing stint in government may be nearing its end. According to a report from Politico, Donald Trump has privately told aides that Musk will be stepping down from his federal advisory role “soon,” signaling a potential shift in the administration’s DOGE experiment.
This follows recent comments from a suburban GOP House member, who, speaking anonymously, said, “Elon’s work needs to wrap up, and he needs to exit stage left.” That statement appears to reflect growing sentiment within parts of the Republican establishment that Musk’s role—however flashy—was always meant to be temporary.

Musk himself may have confirmed as much. In a Fox News interview last week, the billionaire entrepreneur hinted that his time with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) would be coming to an end soon this year. The comment, while brief, sparked speculation about whether Musk was readying an exit from his experimental role.
Musk was appointed a “special government employee” (SGE) by the Trump White House on January 20, 2025, the same day Trump was inaugurated for his second term. That designation—a legally distinct status—allows individuals to serve the government in a temporary advisory or project-specific capacity without the full obligations of a federal employee.
SGEs are subject to specific legal limits. Per the government, an SGE “is anyone who works, or is expected to work, for the government for 130 days or less in a 365-day period.” Given Musk’s appointment date, that means his legal window to serve would close by May 30, 2025.
While not a full-time federal employee, Musk was placed at the helm of DOGE, a newly created government initiative focused on“streamlining federal operations, cutting waste, and innovating service delivery.
Musk has received no salary for his service, but he has had to comply with ethics requirements, including filing a confidential financial disclosure report. That document, however, remains inaccessible to the public due to his SGE classification.
But beneath the official reasoning, a harsher reality may be forcing Musk out: his business empire is floundering. This morning, Tesla reported its worst sales numbers since 2022—a staggering 13% drop year-over-year—sending shockwaves through Wall Street. Once the crown jewel of Musk’s portfolio, Tesla is now bleeding market share to competitors in China and struggling to deliver on aging promises of full self-driving technology.
Investors are jittery, confidence is cracking, and Musk is reportedly under pressure from his board to return his full focus to the ailing company. It’s a brutal turn for the man who once boasted he could run multiple empires at once—and a stark reminder that the myth of Musk may finally be colliding with reality.
One thing’s clear: if Musk’s time in Washington was short, it was anything but quiet.
Can Elon take the rest of the corrupted folks with him, please?
that's because he has all our info and has fucked up the government systems and put bugs in them...jeez
