1) Maui Wildfires Prompt Evacuations
The island of Maui is experiencing one of the worst natural disasters in recent history as wildfires are currently devastating the islands. At least six individuals have been killed, with thousands of residents displaced and forced to evacuate. Panicked residents have been forced to flee the island as strong winds have spread the fires quicker than expected. The town of Lahaina has been hit worst with Maui County officials closing all roads to the town. Officials have also closed off roads to West Maui, only permitting emergency personnel to travel to that part of the island. As of this hour, more than 2,000 residents are in shelters and an emergency declaration has been issued for the island. Tourists have been asked not to travel to the island. Here is a current map, from CNN, outlining what parts of the island has been affected:
Please say a prayer for those on the island, and I will update you as we learn more.
2) At Least One Dozen Indictments Expected in Georgia
Indictments are expected as soon as next week in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ investigation into election interference in Georgia. New reporting suggests that District Attorney Willis is preparing to bring at least twelve indictments against various individuals, potentially including former President Donald Trump.
This news comes as barriers have been erected outside of the Georgia courthouse where a grand jury is expected to issue “high profile indictments.” The Fulton County Sheriff’s office, in a written statement, asserted that they are “proactively coordinating with local, state and federal agencies to enhance security during high profile legal proceedings at the Fulton County Courthouse. Some of the measures we are deploying, such as barriers that will limit parking near the courthouse, will be obvious to the public. For security reasons, other measures being deployed will not be as obvious.” Stay tuned for more.
3) Poland Increases Troops Along the Border
