Hi friends,
I’ve been getting a lot of messages lately — questions in the comments, emails, DMs — all asking the same thing in different ways:
Why do I include those reminders to subscribe? And, why do some of my posts feel like its just me self-promoting my work? Why ask at all?
It’s a fair question. And here’s my honest answer:
Because this matters. Because we’re building something bigger than just a newsletter or a feed. We’re building a newsroom. A place for honest, independent journalism — free from corporate sponsorship, partisan spin, or editorial compromise.
And if you value that, if you’re in a position to support it, I’m asking you to become a paid subscriber. Your subscription directly helps me expand this work and grow a team of people committed to truth, transparency, and accountability. Journalism that doesn’t answer to billionaires or broadcast networks. Just the facts. Just the public interest.
Now, let me tell you what you’re supporting.
Every story you read here is built on a simple but powerful idea: that democracy dies not just in darkness — but behind a paywall. When access to news is limited by money, fewer people stay informed. And when fewer people stay informed, truth suffers. That’s why this space will always remain free to read, watch, share, and discuss. Always.
But free doesn’t mean free to produce. That’s why I ask. Not out of pressure — but out of principle. Because if enough people believe in this mission and support it when they can, then we don’t need to compromise. Ever.
And make no mistake: this is a critical time for journalism. I’ve faced ongoing attacks from far-right figures. There are loud voices calling for my prosecution. And meanwhile, we’re watching major media outlets soften or surrender under pressure from Donald Trump and his allies.
Let me say it clearly: I will not.
Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.
This work will never be silenced, sanitized, or sold out. If anything, the attacks only make me more committed to telling the truth — and to creating space for others to do the same.
Also, as an aside, I’ll be going live more often — to connect in real-time, answer your questions, and talk through the stories that don’t always make the headlines. I hope to see you there.
To everyone who already subscribes: thank you.
To those who can’t, but read, comment, and share — thank you, too. You’re part of this, every step of the way.
While I may hear it a million times, for someone it will be their first time. I support always saying it.
So many people are superficial…… I think you’re doing an amazing job, and yes, I am a paid subscriber, proud to be a paid subscriber!!
